Sequar has been providing live tracking to events since early 2004. We have provided tracking to six cars on the Gumball 3000 and provided full coverage of all cars involved in the prestigious invite only Carbon Black Supercar Rally.
2006, 2007, 2008 Carbon Black Supercar Rally
Sequar covered 3 major European events and several smaller events, we were responsible for the tracking and navigation of all vehicles
Each year the system and the requirements of Carbon Black grew and in September 2008 we built our most complex system to date, here are some of the details of the package:
Navigation:
Carbon Black presented us with the venues they would visit on the rally e.g. hotels checkpoints etc. Our task was to route test the surounding areas (the rally crossed several countries and borders) and roads and produce the best driving experience for the entrants.
At the same time we were mapping and logging all the data from the route testing. After several months and several thousand miles the route was set, this was then pre loaded into the devices provided so the drivers would then drive the roads which offered the greatest thrills.
This single unit was then mounted in each vehicle and provided navigation with live online tracking.
Tracking
Two systems were developed:
A delayed signal was produced for the website. This enabled our viewers to enjoy the rally, but kept the security of our drivers.
A real-time signal was displayed onto a map for Carbon Black HQ and the security team. This map was monitored at all times and drivers were contacted and support teams were alerted immediatly if any problems arose.
This meant Carbon Black knew where all its drivers where at all times and were able to navigate the support teams to the drivers if they broke down with pin point accuracy and in the shortest possible time.
This bespoke package took months of work between Pete, Ingrid and GPS gate.com but the results were well worth it.
